The participants of this study were grade 5 students of a primary school. The 60 students were divided into the athletic group and the control group with 15 boys and 15 girls in each group. (In the athletic group, the average age was 10.53 ± 0.51, the average height was 143.19 ± 6.76 cm and the average weight was 40.70 ± 11.93 kg. In the control group, the average age was 10.43 ± 0.50, the average height was 141.29 ± 5.46 cm and the average weight was 38.93 ± 8.69 kg.). A pre-test on reaction time including simple reaction time, choice reaction time and identification reaction time was conducted at the beginning of the school. After the pre-test, the athletic group underwent 8-week running training, three times a week, 40 minutes each time. 8 weeks later, a post-test was given to both groups respectively. The researcher carried out the statistical analysis on the simple reaction of feet at the start of a race by using the one-way ANOVA for independent samples. The other data were analyzed by means of the two-way mixed design ANOVA. The research results indicated that: the running training or regular exercise were helpful to shorten the reaction time; the more complicate is the reaction motor, the longer is the reaction time; the reaction time would increase with the increase of the “choice number of the stimulation-reaction”.
