The purpose of this research is to discuss the relation between the leadership style and leadership effectiveness at the level of battalion commanders and distinguish the factors of different types of troop and different attributes of subordinate officer’s background. Based on the result of research, this paper presents concrete suggestions to the commanders of various levels and those officers who are in charge of military education. The research method of this paper adopts the roll investigation to the officers in the National Defense University and also drafts the questionnaire “The relation between leader style and the leadership effectiveness” by the way of dominated sampling. The total number of responsive questionnaires is 718 out of 778, and the valid ones is 558, which means 71.72% effective responsive questionnaires. The results can be concluded as followings:
1. Transformational leadership get higher score.
2. Soldiers are positive about battalion commander’s leadership.
3. The level of Company commanders have lower perceptions of “Leadership Effectiveness” than the that of Battalion commanders
4. Parent-type leadership style get the lowest score among all.
5. There exists very high positive relation between transformational leadership and leadership Effectiveness.
According to the conclusions, this paper proposes the following suggestions:
1. The suggestions to commanders:
(1)Enhance the assistance to the level of Company commanders.
(2)Emphasize the importance of leadership style and overall effectiveness.
(3)Strengthen the behavior of transformation leading style.
2. The suggestions to military education department:
(1)Increase the leadership related lessons in the class.
(2)Cultivate the habit of commitment to service for the cadets .
(3)Concentrate on the achievement and objective..
3. The suggestions to the following research:
All these statements are described as research variables, objectives, subjective as well as statistics items to do the future research.
