Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 教育學系 === 94 === The purpose of this study is aimed at understanding the family life experiences of South-Eastern Asian mothers’ elementary school children. Using qualitative research to explore the relationship among their family members and with their relatives and friends, the researcher invites two S.E. Asian mothers’ children to describe their family life experiences. According to the analysis of the subjects’ narrations , the family life experiences of foreign mothers’ children are as follows:(1)Foreign mothers are always the main financial support in the family .Children are the popurse that parents work hard for.Foreigh mothers with working abilities become the main support of whole family.(2)Foreign mothers’ children have a simple relationship with others. These children only interact with their fathers, and thus they have few friends. (3)The children have a better command of local languages than their mothers. Sometimes, children use some words that their mothers don’t understand to talk them back.(4)When interacting with others,foreign mother’s children always use violence or quarrels to solve the arguments.(5)Foreign mothers’ children are in close relationship with their fathers. It is due to the fact that local fathers take care of everything in their children’s daily life, children are in close relationship with their local fathers.(6)The negative behaviors of foreign mother’s children result from home life experiences. Customs accumulated from home life experiences lead to negative behaviors, such as fight, thievery and negligence of homework. According to the research findings, this study offers some suggestions to the government, schools, teachers and experts on family education and also some directions for further studies, hoping that foreign mothers’ children can get more understanding and support so that they help grow up happily.
