碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 教育學系 === 94 === A Study of Relationship among Primary School Teachers’ Value Judgment of Life、Their Job Involvement and Instruction Effectiveness
Abstract
This study aims at understanding primary school teachers’ value judgment of life, job involvement, current situation of instruction effects, and the differences of the variables of personal background. This paper then investigates the relationship between primary school teachers’ value judgment of life and their job involvement and instruction effects, explores the differences of job involvement and instruction effects of primary school teachers with different extents of value judgment of life, analyzes the description on how teachers’ value judgment of life affects job involvement and instruction effects, synthesizes the research results, and proposes concrete and workable suggestions.
This study adopts the research approach of questionnaire survey. The teachers of 87 national primary schools of Kaohsiung City were taken as the targets. Stratified sampling was carried out according to the size of schools. A “questionnaire of primary school teachers’ value judgment of life, job involvement, instruction effects” edited by the researcher was taken as the research tool. There were 690 questionnaires distributed, and 650 questionnaires returned. Among the 650 questionnaires, 645 of them are effective samples, and the effective return rate is 93.5%. The resulted data were analyzed and processed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, product-moment correlation and stepwise multiple regression.
The conclusions acquired in this study are as follows:
1. The current situation of primary school teachers’ “value judgment of life” is good, and the item of “attitude towards life” is stressed most.
2. The current situation of primary school teachers’ “job involvement” is good, and the item of “evaluation of job” is stressed most.
3. The current situation of primary school teachers’ “instruction effects” is extremely good, and the item of “class operation and instruction effects” is stressed most.
4. Due to the differences of the variables of personal background, primary school teachers’ “value judgments of life” are different. Over the difference in sex, age, marital status, professional qualifications and religious beliefs, significant differences are found on part of the stratified aspects of value judgment.
5. Due to the differences of the variables of personal background, primary school teachers’ “job involvement” are different. Over the difference in age, marital status, seniority and duties, significant differences are found on different aspects of job involvement. As to sex, highest education and professional qualifications, certain parts are found to have significant differences.
6. Due to the differences of the variables of personal background, primary school teachers’ “instruction effects” are different. Over the difference in age, marital status, professional qualifications, seniority and duties, significant differences are found on part of the stratified aspects of instruction effects.
7. Primary school teachers’ “value judgment of life” is significantly related to their “job involvement” and “instruction effects.”
8. The “job involvement” and “instruction effects” of different teachers are different since different teachers have different “value judgments of life.” High-score group is superior to medium-score group and low-score group, and medium-score group is superior to low-score group.
9. Primary school teachers’ “value judgment of life” has prediction functions on “job involvement.” Among them, the most effective prediction variable is “positive social recognition.” And teachers’ value judgment of life has the highest prediction force on the aspect of “working fun” of job involvement.
10. Primary school teachers’ “value judgment of life” has prediction functions on “instruction effects.” Among them, the most effective prediction variable is “attitude towards life.” And teachers’ value judgment of life has the highest prediction force on the aspect of “class operation and instruction effects” of instruction effects.
According to the above conclusions, the following suggestions are proposed:
1. To the education and administrative authorities:
(1) Give guidance to schools in opening life education courses for further studies, and set up the research and development (R&D) units of life education courses, so as to establish positive value judgment of life in teachers.
(2) Control the effects and feedback to education of those in-service studying teachers, so as to really promote such practical mental abilities as job involvement and instruction effects.
2. To the administration of schools:
(1) Pay attention to the possibly existed differences in the variables of personal backgrounds due to different teachers’ value judgments of life, and give them positive guidance to the correct direction.
(2) Construct a harmonious and warm environment for school in order to let teachers have the correct and positive value judgment of life.
(3) Build communication channels, study the emotional problems of teachers, collect different opinions, uses concrete and effective strategies, and give positive supports and assistance at the right timing.
(4) Strengthen the executives’ and supervisors’ mental abilities of their leadership, recognize the teachers’ value, pay concerns for other schools, and establish a mutual trust atmosphere between teachers and executive staff in the campus.
(5) Mold a positive school culture so as to promote the teachers’ value judgment of life.
3. To teachers:
(1) Continuously absorb new knowledge of the modern time so as to understand the trends and future directions of social and education development.
(2) Make appropriate arrangement of life and emotional adjustment, promote your value judgment of life, and maintain high degree of job involvement and instruction effects.
4. Future researches:
(1) Over the research contents, other research variables can be increased.
(2) Over the research approach, other research approaches can be combined and adopted.
(3) Over the research targets, the scope and targets of research can be extended.
