Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 工業科技教育學系 === 95 === This research explores the feasibility of integrating environmental education into learning domain of sciences and technology among elementary school students in Kaohsiung County. According to the research outcome, we further submit recommendations to the environmental education of elementary schools in Kaohsiung County. To achieve the goals of said research, we based our study on the theoretical basis of past documented results and positive analyses. We sampled 1,110 respondents of five - and six-graders in Kaohsiung County by stratified sampling. With their replies to the questionnaires, we undertook t-Test, 1-way ANOVA as well as product-moment correlation analysis. The conclusions are as follow:
I. Generally speaking, the ability of students to achieve the goals of environmental education courses is highly-matched; i.e. it is feasible to integrate environmental education with the learning domain of natural sciences and lifestyle technologies.
II. As to the student gender, the results do not show significant difference between the school girls and boys; although the girls obtained slightly higher testing scores.
III. As to the student age, the test results do not show significant difference between the five-graders and six-graders. While the six-graders showed their performance are more uniform and got better results, it does not reach significant level on their differences; i.e. after five years of instituting the standard national education curriculum for grades 1-9, the students have achieved more independent learning environment and better academic achievements
IV. The results indicate significant difference in student performance among the different geographic regions. While the results only show significance difference in statistical measurement, the correlation between the various parameters is weak.
V. There is a significant positive correlation among the goals of environmental education: “perception and sensitivity to the environment”, “basic knowledge about the environment”, “values and attitudes to the environment”, “action skills in the environment” as well as “action experiences in the environment”.
We thus submit these recommendations according to the results of above research for reference to the education sectors and for basis of future research.
