碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 環境與安全衛生工程所 === 94 === ABSTRACT
There are many different types of pallet materials; mainly being wood, plastic,
paper or metal, and due to the enormous consumption in the industry, if the pallets are
not utilized efficiently and its benefits being fully taken advantage of, they would cause
wastage in resources and increase the cost of waste processing. Moreover, this research
is to further examine the usage of pallets domestically, and also understand its benefits.
In addition to that, an assessment on the feasibility of recycling the pallets is also
conducted to maximize its benefits. Through the discovery from the survey inquiries
method, 80% of the factories used pallets, with 66% of them using mainly wooden
pallets. Also, metal pallets have the highest appraisal, though it’s heavier and more
expensive than the other types of pallets, while the plastic pallets were the most popular
and widely recommended. 46% of the factories purchase their pallets, while only 3%
lease them; the price for wooden pallets are mostly concentrated in the range between
NT$100 to NT$500. The most common specification used is the W12 (35%) and RT11
(23%). 87% of the factories recycle their pallets, while those who do not recycle, uses
III
pallets that are made of paper and wood as they are more easily damaged. It often
bothers the factories how to dispose off the damaged pallets. 57% of the factories
discard their damaged pallets, which often causes environmental problems. Most of the
factories agree to set up the “Pallet Recycling Center”. This research also addresses the
structure and management of the recycling center.
