Summary:碩士 === 國立花蓮教育大學 === 科學教育研究所 === 94 === An Action Research of Implementing Science Reading and Writing Programs of American IDEAS Model in Taiwan Fourth Grade Class Abstract This study intends to implement the successful science reading and writing programs of American IDEAS model into Taiwan fourth grade class, and develop grounded teaching strategies for making these programs be successful in Taiwan. Subjects included 32 fourth graders who were taught by researcher for one semester. Data collection included video taping of teaching, audio interviews of students, questionnaire of students’ attitudes toward science reading, class worksheets, teaching journal, checklist of science writing, tests on reading comprehension and so on. Research findings include: 1) In order to have a successful implementation of IDEAS model, an science-centered integrated thematic curriculum design need to be used. 2) Throughout the research process, researcher developed six teaching strategies for promoting science reading and writing. Researcher also recommended a student-centered caring and loving attitude for implementing above strategies. 3) For the implementation, researcher developed a series of science reading list which includes book sections, journal papers, chapters from encyclopedia and so on. 4) In terms of science writing expression, researcher identified those quality of experiment-class were significantly superior to those of controlled-class by using an independent t-test. 5) In terms of reading comprehension, researcher identified those quality of experiment-class were significantly superior to those of controlled-class by using one-way ANCOVA test. Discussions of research results and recommendations for teaching and further research will be included in the thesis.
