Textbooks from grade 1 to grade 8, in Kanshen, Hanlin and Nanyi versions, 24 volumes total, have been chosen and analyzed. We choose the Content Analysis Method and analyze each sentence in these textbooks. The analysis of unit is sentence. The analysis of character education category is based on the Character Counts! Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. Qualified contents, figures and figure descriptions are excluded, are classified after the examinations of Inter-rater reliability & Intra-rater agreement. After counting the number and ration of the contents related to character education, and analyzing those contents in details, the main conclusion are as follows: 1.Nanyi version is the highest one on the percentage of the contents in character education in Social Study textbook, followed by Kenshen and Hanlin version. 2.The percentage of the contents in character education in the second learning level in Social Study textbook is higher than in the third one. 3.The distribution of contents in the six pillars of character is uneven in all versions. 4.Citizenship and Respect are in higher percentage in these contents in all versions, while Responsibility and Fairness are in lower one. 5.The distribution of contents in the subcategories of six pillars of character is also uneven in all versions. 6.
