But Internet only offers doing one's best (Best Effort) at present which influences the transport efficiency of audio and multimedia packets. Except increase the bandwidth of the core network, the key solution is the difference QoS mechanism in order to use limited resources effectively. In this study, we stand on the QoS attribures by UMTS all-IP core network that 3GPP R5 proposed to set up the difference QoS mechanism. When UMTS has progressed into All-IP network, the core network must serve all audio, multimedia and data packages, etc. at one time. To solves the limitation of the Internet, this paper propose the differentiated service queuing scheme based on transmitted bytes within a UMTS core network gateway, "BBQ, Byte-based Queuing" for short.The BBQ scheme offer the differentiated service according to the 3GPP by appling queue management, schedule management and congestion control. Simulation is used to understand the performance of the proposed queueing scheme. This study use ns2 as the simulation platform. Several scenarios are simulated. After analyzing simulation results, the proposed queueing scheme always provide a better packet transmission performance for UMTS applications with higher priorities.
