碩士 === 國防醫學院 === 生物及解剖學研究所 === 94 === CD200 is a membrane glycoprotein that contains two immunoglobulin superfamily domains and it functions through interactions with other cell-surface proteins. CD200 has broad distribution and present on leucocytes, endothelial cells, neurons and some other cell types. The recent characterization of CD200 suggests that CD200 may regulate immune responses. Up to now, CD200 is concluded as an immunosuppressive molecule. However, CD200 may also be an adhesion molecule and bind between cell and cell with IgG domain. Whether CD200 expression could function in the cell-cell adhesion in the epithelial system has not yet been determined. Our preliminary data showed that CD200 does exist in most exocrine glands, particularly in the salivary and mammary glands of which expressions varied and were dependent on their organ types. Immuno-electron microscopic data further revealed that CD200 was localized on the myoepithelial cells. The cells showed significant CD200 immunoreactivities on their cytoplasmic membrane and caveoli dramatically on those facing the basal lamina, in contrast to those intimately contacting with acinar cells being absent of CD200. During the atrophy of duct-ligated submandibular and sublingual glands, myoepithelial cells became hyperplasia and stronger CD200 immunoreactivities.
