Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 國民教育研究所 === 94 === The purpose of this research is to understand the performance of the principals’ curriculum leadership in the elementary schools in Yunlin and Chiayi counties. The questionnaires were completed by 171 of 295 principals in small-scale elementary schools. Statistical methods used for explanation and analysis of results were proportion or mean, standard deviation, descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way variance analysis, Scheffe’ method and chi-square-test. As a result, the conclusions were drawn from the research results: 1. The performance of elementary schools’ principal curriculum leadership in Yunlin and Chiayi counties is very good. 2. There are obvious differences on the age background variable with respect to course goals, guidance programs, curriculum design, and positive working environment. 3. While the principals are performing curriculum leadership, they have found the greatest difficulty is the lack of participation of local communities and parents. Yet they also found: teacher turnover rate, lack of advanced study opportunities and shortage knowledge of curriculum leadership are less of a problem. 4. There are obvious differences in the performance of elementary schools’ principal curriculum leadership in Yunlin and Chiayi counties, which are influenced by variables of age, education and service seniority background. 5. The most effective strategies for overcoming difficulties are promoting advanced study opportunities for teachers, strengthening principals’ knowledge of curriculum leadership, and consensus building. The least commonly used strategy was establishing appropriate curriculum organization. 6. The obvious difference in performance is based on the senior faculty’s influence on the innovative atmosphere of the school and the curriculum.
