Summary: | 碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 科學教育研究所 === 94 === The “Egg Cooking Competition” thematic integrated module was cooperated and developed by a group of junior high school teachers in the methodology of action research. The cogitation of the “Egg Cooking Competition” thematic integrated module adopted the concept integration modul of Beane (1997), and the activities design was based on the Karplus’『Exploration-Concept Introduction-Concept Application』 in order to lead the students to thermology. In addition, the paper also probed into the problems, difficulties and solutions which have encountered in the process of development and execution of the module. Afterward the research also reviewed the learning effects on the thermology curriculum, skill of egg cooking, and students’ attitude expression on the subjects.
The research team consisted of the author and three teachers from Home Economy, Chinese and Science curriculums. The study subject comprised 1 eighth-grade classe and 1 seven-grade classe of of the researcher’s students. The research instruments included the pre-curriculum and after-curriculum examines, module teaching materials, unit activities, unit examines. The collected data that are required on the paper including the research group conference records, teaching log, classroom observation records (video types and notes), studying logs, unit achievement examines, interviews, group reports, study sheets records, student groups mutual evaluation, and student groups self-evaluation. Using Qualitative analysis is applied in order to truthfully demonstrate the full content of the cooperated development of the integrated teaching module and the learning effects of students.
Research results. The phases of developing integrated teaching module included (1)selecting topic, (2)determining curriculum targets, (3)verifying instruction methodology, (4)designing teaching theme and activities, (5)designing various evaluation methods. The units of teaching module included six units of 『it is good to know you』、『basic skills in cooking』、『temperature and calorie』、『specific heat』、『convey the heat』、and『watch the variety』etc and three activities of 『fry egg』、『steam egg』、and 『bake egg』。The research results showed that student had better understand on thermology, and also learned the skill of cooking egg, and recognized the activities involved in the module.
