Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立體育學院 === 休閒產業經營學系碩士班 === 94 === Information Needs of Head and Neck Cancer Patients Abstract The aim of this study is to understand the information needs of head and neck cancer patients in three different groups including of patients before the medical treatment, during treatment, and after the treatment (returning home, recovery, residual and so on). From October to December 2005, a total 107 head and neck patients treated at a memorial hospital of north Taiwan completed an “Information Needs of Head and Neck Cancer Patients Questionnaire”. This questionnaire contained four factors relating of treatment and side-effect, self-care, psychological issues, and illness. The data were analysed using Chi-square test to examine the relations between groups, demographic data and development variables and then using T-test, One-way ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U-test and Kruskal-Wallis H-test examine the factor scores of demographic variables. Finally, stepwise regression analyses were used to identify factors that would influence information needs. The result expects to find that providing information should be conducted as an ongoing process and not limited to the period of diagnosis and treatment. Adequate, appropriate and timely information may be the best benefit for patients.
