The ship-owner receives the quotation from shipyard, discusses the equipment and requirement of the ship and finally signs the official contract. The design engineers of the shipyard carry out the corresponding design, draw the design chart and prepare the implementation documents according to the requirement of the contract and their experience, and become the criteria on constructing the ship. This study put forward the internet as the platform. With the convenience of Web interface, a "Multimedia Ship Construction Information System" is proposed in order to integrate the information of ship design and construction, and implementation documents. This system uses the characteristic of eXtensible Markup Language (XML) to show the electronic implementation documents and the information can be reused. It will then further develop to extensible and re-constructive script language and become script of ship construction process. It integrates the Virtual Reality (VR) technology, and establishes Virtual Assembly (VA) instead of text description. The previous established ship component three-dimensional (3D) solid model is reused. Through the Virtual Assembly, it can carry out visual implementation process simulation and planning. The human intuition is used to express the ship construction information so that the documents are changed from plane to three-dimensional. It can assist the flow of information on ship construction. With the Relational Database technology, the database of charts and multimedia documents on ship design will be established. Through the Product Data Management (PDM), the value of information utilization is increased, search of information is easier and reusable. The organization does not need to repeat the same works. Through this system, it is expected to demonstrate a new multimedia information retrieval environment and a more creative virtual interaction, and establish a knowledge base on information of ship design and construction. This promotes the design staffs a more convenient and better way to manage the implementation documents. The internal staffs of the shipyard can capture the necessary information rapidly. Through the establishment of wireless network, it can solve the communication problem between the internal shipyard and the construction site. This assists the constructors to construct the ship correctly, significantly raise the quality of construction and increase the working efficiency. Heiu-Jou Shaw 邵揮洲 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 118 zh-TW
