And the elementary schools play the key role in the entire education system. Students spend almost one-third of the day staying in classrooms; therefore, well-designed illumination devices not only enhance the quality of lighting and reduce dazzles but also requires to effectively cutting down the power consumption. How to improve the illumination quality and save energy is now the first priority in the Sustainable campus management. In the past, many experts already made the researches and the appraisals in view of the school classroom illumination as well as the energy conservation. They focused mainly on calculating the relevance to the highly efficient illumination device and the power consumption, rarely having the investigations and comparisons on benefit between electricity efficiency and power conservation after changing the existing illumination division. ▉ Methodology 1. On-site testing in classrooms on high efficiency and conventional illuminator. Recording the data on the power meter. Analyzing Classroom environment difference. 2. Cases of Investigation: 5 of Junior high school in Taichung City and 4 Elementary school which have changed to illumination device to higher efficiency ones. 3. Data Analysis: Using Excel, SPSS as tools to analyze statically on the inter-relationship on the data. As well as comparison to analyze on correspondence among testing results, classroom environment and school fundamental basis. ▉ Study Result. 1. After 2 and half years Power consumption data recording and statically benchmarking in between 5 urban Elementary school with changing to high-efficiency illumination device in Taichung city and 4 rural schools that uses conventional illumination device in Changhua county, the result shows the Power consumption tends to have major improving. The Urban and Rural sides each indicate ratio as 3:1 and 4:1. it also explains high efficiency illumination device provides bigger role to energy conservation. 2. The factors for making big ratio difference between the Urban and the Rural mainly go to higher Urban construction density, environmental distribution, and the school space which cause lower natural light source and higher electricity illumination usage due to the conditions like double-side Corridor, Coverage device against sunlight, Ant-thief widows…etc, In addition to different frequency between Urban and Rural schools in using electrical equipments such as electrical educational tools and electrical Fans. 3. The on-site survey result shows the high-efficiency illumination device power conservation performance is much high than conversational light source. The results also support it is worthwhile to promote the implementation on high-efficiency illumination in larger scale. 4. In comparing the average luminance difference on no matter Urban or Rural classroom which implements high-efficiency illumination device indicates the luminance generated is much higher than normal luminance necessity. The schools may improve the power conservation performance if accompanying by using auto light control. 5. One of commonly suggested methods for adjusting to get appropriate power usage behavior is to apply the user-pay-for-it policy. It may need to accompany with the power meter management. The research and development on Digital power meter in recently popular Internet provides potential solution for better power conservation and more efficient power consumption management system.
