Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 建築學系碩博士班 === 94 === In folk culture, hand-painted tiles are also called as “colored tile”, “figured tile” or “tile painting”. Hand-painted tiles appeared in Japan occupied period, and the materials were manufactured by Japanese, then the figures on tiles were painted by Taiwanese craftsman at that time. Among those works, some were painted by famous craftsman. Because of the integration with social situation, the unique hand-painted tiles were developed and uncommon in other areas. Hand-pained tiles were become a prevailing decoration material the same as the carvings, colored drawings ,washing finish of stucco and Terrazzo and substituted for them on buildings of Japan occupied period, but most of the researches were more on the style of architecture appearance than on the techniques and materials. There were only washing finish of stucco usually to be discussed among the common materials at the same time, so the studies of hand-painted tiles were poor and insufficient. The study takes Tainan area for region, and practically investigates traditional houses, temples and the craftsmen of hand-painted tiles. Because of the uniqueness in the painting process, we could clearly to tell when it completed and who the painter is. Based on the collective data, we could construct the situation and reasons of separation of hand-painted tiles, the system of craftsmen and the special cooperation with the kiln factory; furthermore, we analyze the expression form of hand-painted tiles on the façades. In the end, we base on the hand-painted tiles to compare with plane decoration of Japan occupied period in prevailing age, position on the building, technique and art aspects.
