The formation of monodisperse Poly(methyl methaceylate-co-N-vinylformamide)latex particles in absences of added surfactant has been studied by sampling polymerization reactions at different variables and determining the surface and bulk propersity of the latsx. Monodisperse and “clean” polymer lattices have found wide application in calibration of various measuring instruments and techniques. The surface propersity of polymer particles play an important role determining the colloid behavior of latex. Recently researchers have haves shown interest in the preparation and application of polymer particle because of the ease to control surface properties, like hydrophobicity, functional groups and morphology. The surface characteristics mainly depend on the type of initiator used, adsorbed or grafted surface-active agents and polymeric species. Submicron-sized poly(methyl methaceylate-co-N-vinylformamide)particle was by soap-free emulsion copolymerization.
