Forecasting final prices of online auctions is challenging since some of the special features induced by online auction data make the traditional forecasting methods hard to apply. Therefore, the goal of this research is to propose a bootstrapping simulation based model for predicting the final price of online English auctions. It can overcome the difficulty on implementing the parameter estimation of Markov Chain model in practice. The empirical results also show that the proposed model in a three-stage method can predict the final price much more accurately than other traditional forecasting methods do.
