| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 環境工程學系所 === 94 === Although the development of Hsinchu and Southern Taiwan Science Park has helped to bring a plethora of high tech industries and talents, at the same time fostering economic development in the peripheral regions; this nevertheless inflicts varying degrees of impact on the local natural, cultural, societal and economic environment.
Regarding the approach to science park development, previously the infrastructure will have been completed before the respective manufacturers move in to develop their factories. However, in order to allow the manufacturers to begin production as soon as possible, the Central Taiwan Science Park (hereafter referred to as CTSP) adopted a simultaneous development approach, whereby infrastructure and factories are built concurrently.
Therefore, due to the complexity of concurrent development, influence on the surrounding environment will also become more complicated; this provokes the question of how development processes can affect the environment.
By participating in the CTSP development process, we intend to understand how it can impact the surrounding natural environment, by analyzing and comparing statistics from environmental quality monitoring stations, before and after the development. Research will also be conducted, using these statistics as well as findings from environmental evaluation reports, to determine the level of differentiation; based on all of the above information, appropriate conclusions and recommendations will be drawn, for future reference of science park developers as well as environmental evaluation agencies.
