Due to intense human activities, natural resources are being consumed and damaged at a very fast pace. Rapid metropolitan development and growth cause the degradation of environments, downgrade of living standards, and impairment of ecosystems. Recently, as the concepts of sustainable development, and environmentally-friendly expansions keep growing, landscape and eco-planning are being emphasized from architects to general public. How to incorporate eco-planning into urban planning will be an important research aspect in the future. Science Park is a unique metropolitan in Taiwan. Standardization of its accommodation was done on a city scale. Hsin-Chu Science Park integrated the ideas of community oriented and greeneries oriented into its development. Because of that, the Science Park was expanded into a self-sufficient community. It comprised of industrial areas, residential areas, and recreational areas which all out-preformed other metropolitans in both quality and quantity. This provides a better living space for workers in the Science Park. At the same time, it offers other living organisms a better ecological environment. This research uses past studies and theories in retrospect to methodology in order to discuss the relationship between the landscape structure, and rationalization of city land use through current eco-landscape, eco-network, and urban land usage. According to the changes of eco-landscape due to different urban land usage, this research creates an evaluation model for which can be used in future urban developments.
