Writing literary travel works has become a trend. Under the development of more than ten years, the travel literature, connected with the social changes, has presented diverse and flourishing appearance and attained many pleasant accomplishments. The research targets the literary works published from 1990 to 2004. Based on former research results, this thesis attempts to exert an in-depth research on those unexploited topics. It is expected that the research results can provide a more complete understanding toward the contemporary Taiwan travel literature. The first chapter is the introduction, illustrating the motive, purpose, scope, and method of the research, as well as the research outcomes of the predecessors. The second chapter, displaying the progress of Taiwan travel literature since 1949, is divided into three sections. In the first section, the modern meaning, motive and purpose of travel are discussed and the travel theories used in the whole thesis are introduced. In the second section, the features of Taiwan travel literature in different decades from 1950 to 1990 are pointed out. In the third section, the social backgrounds beneficial to the development of travel literature since the 1990s are analyzed; many travel literary works with various writing styles are picked and analyzed to reveal the profound meanings behind the diverse features of those works. The third chapter presents detailed analysis aiming at some typical writing styles and representative writers of contemporary Taiwan travel literature. It is divided into five sections. Every section focuses at one distinct writer, including Yu GuangZhong, Lei Xiang, Luo ZhihCheng, Shu GuoZhih, and Zhong WenIn. Firstly, the writer’s writing history is stated; then, the writer’s representative works are illustrated and context analyses are conducted. The writing styles and viewpoints in the works are commented. The fourth chapter explores the phenomenon that the writing scopes of travel literature are continually expanding since the 1990s due to the more diverse definitions and explanations of travel given by the travelers. It is divided into three sections. In the first section, the situation that various sub-literature types coexist in the contemporary Taiwan travel literature is analyzed. In the second section, the meaning of the image context, the relationships between photography, drawing and travel writing and the roles acted are discussed. In the third section, the focus is at the flourishing on-line writing. Some forms of travel writing, such as travel website, Blog, etc are analyzed. The fifth chapter gives retrospect and prospect to the accomplishments of Taiwan travel literature since the 1990s. It is divided into four sections. In the first section, the emerging problems in need of examination in the development of contemporary Taiwan travel literature are discussed. In the second section, the travel literature is put into the network of Taiwan prose development; the position and meaning of the time are probed into. In the third section, the contributions of the travel literature on Taiwan literature history are discussed. In the fourth section, the new trend of travel literature development in the future is envisaged. The sixth chapter is the conclusion. The whole research results in the thesis are summarized. It is expected that in the future, deeper travel culture will be cultivated, more profound travel discourse will be developed, and broader space of Taiwan travel literature will be opened up. 作者未提供 江惜美 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 225 zh-TW
