How to properly utilize human resources is thus the focus of most hotel operation. Employee retention is one among the issues that concerns hotel managers. The purpose of this study is to explore employee organizational socialization, career planning and how these factors associate with each other for hotel room division employees. This research censuses all room division employees in Kaohsiung international tourist hotels. Questionnaires were distributed to all qualified subjects, and 372 cases were valid among those returned. The findings are as follows: 1. The cognition of organizational socialization and career planning for the employees of rooms division of Kaohsiung international tourist hotels is of medium level. 2. Gender and job attributes have a significant impact on individuals’ career planning. 3. Employees with different background attributes have a significant impact on individuals’ oraganizational socialization. 4. Organizational socialization has a positive impact on career planning.Based on these results, this study suggests that the hospitality industry helps its employees in career planning through organizational socialization.
