n the early motor control system, it is always employed simple DC motor. There are some defects in DC motor. For example, commutator and brush are easy to wear down, it may lead to poor contact and break down or be unstable during the control process. Besides, it should maintain regularly, otherwise it will lead to unexpected effects in velocity and position control.
Recently the semiconductor technology had applied to brushless motor, i.e. DC servo motor. The features of brushless motor are small volume, high torque, fast response, and easy to maintain. Therefore, it has been widely applied in automatic control and mechatronic system. In velocity and position control of main machine, brushless motor plays an important role and gradually replaces the DC motor in some industry control fields. For using brushless servo motor, it needs to build drive circuit. Besides, close-loop model is necessary for precision control and to achieve expected performance.
In this study, the application and analysis of brushless motor are discussed and it is used to control the radar antenna pedestal. Hall effect sensors are employed to detect the voltage of magnetic poles and then are transduced to electric current to be the feedback signal of close-loop DC servo motor control system. Dynamic load tests have made in this study. By observing the different exciting voltages of rotating angles and the variant changes of load current, the performance of stability of the relation of velocity and torque are obtained.
