However, due to some constraint factors, such as, rough terrain, bad climate and remote sites, data collection activities in field radiation monitoring are hard to carry out. The traditional data collection method was labor intension, consuming lots of manpower and time, but still cannot get real time information. Therefore, it was uneconomic both in time and in cost. In this research, we develop intelligent devices with wireless communication ability, based on the concepts of object-oriented architecture. The devices can monitor the environment by dynamically collecting and transferring radiation data from detectors located in the outfield. The communication and data transmission between mobile agent devices or between mobile devices and a backward server can be done via wireless connections. The remote detector agent and the controller are always connected, and the connection between them can be rebuilt automatically even they are disconnected due to some abnormal cases. This method really eliminates the task of labor work to callback the monitor devices in the request to reset the connection. The research result shows that this architecture also improves the field radiation monitoring function by providing a full time, automatic and unblocked data collection environment. Comparing with the traditional method, this architecture can also reduce the manpower and cost.
