Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 兒童與家庭學系碩士班 === 95 === The research primarily focused on the effectiveness of Taipei city children’s day care centers implementing ‘enlightenment service project for the preschoolers in the foreign spouses and disadvantaged families’ in 2006. The project included three parts: the training of children’s language development, parent-child reading group, and home-based reading guide and environmental design.
The research methods were focus-group interview and questionnaire. The twelve chief of education and care section from Taipei city children’s day care centers participated in focus-group interviews, and parents and teachers were surveyed. Results of the study were as below:
1. The chiefs of education and care section perceived that Taipei city children’s day care centers could support the services due to the convenience, familiarity, trusted learning environment, and meeting the needs of parent and child in the foreign spouses and disadvantaged families. Furthermore, the services provided build parents’ trust to day care centers, and facilitate teacher-parent communication and the relationship between parent and day care centers.
2. The chiefs of education and care section perceived that Taipei city children’s day care centers had enriching environment themselves, so that when designing projects, the professional, hardware and software installation, and teaching resources had been used adequately.
3. Through the evaluation of the teachers, half of the preschoolers in the foreign spouses and disadvantaged families had language developmental delay and articulatory problems when they were newly admitted to Taipei city children’s day care centers. After language coaching and peer interacting, they improved significantly and speedily.
4. ‘Time’ was the biggest challenge that influenced parents to join the parent-child reading group, ‘convenience’ and ‘contact with teachers’ were attracting factors that parents chose to join the projects.
5. The chiefs of education and care section pointed that because little times and the limit of time, it was hard to evaluate effectiveness of the home-based reading guide and environmental design. Parents that had attended the project were willing to accept the services continuously and praise the services.
6. Because of the differences in service styles of the project, joining targets, the staff of organization, and the readiness of environment, some services were designed discontinuously, and insufficient in the whole and continuity of the project.
Finally, based on the findings, several suggestions were made for government, institutions, and day care centers. Issues for further study were also discussed
