The tool for this study is a modified survey of “Elementary School Students’ Future Motives of participation in Recreational Sports”. The subjects for this study are students from elementary schools in Yi-Lan area and chosen by cluster sampling. There are a total of 887 people chosen. The data was analyzed by t-test and One-Way ANOVA. The date differs between students from different areas, grades, sex, familial economic status in the society and their barriers from obtaining recreation, and future motives of participation in recreational sports. The following conclusions were obtained after analysis and discussion: I. In barriers from obtaining recreation: 1. There was no significant difference between Northern Yi-Lan County and Southern Ilan County.(p>.05) 2. There was no significant difference between fifth graders and sixth graders. (p>.05) 3. There was no significant difference between male students and female students.(p>.05) 4. Children from families of higher socio-economic status were affected more than children from families of lower socio-economic status.(p<.05) 5. In terms of society and lifestyle, sport knowledges and facility etc., Northern Yi-Lan County was higher than Southern Yi-Lan County . (p<.05) 6. In terms of on personal interest, facility, playmates and experience in participation and chance to participate etc , six graders were higher than five graders. (p<.05) 7. In terms of society and lifestyle, playground safety etc, male students were affected more than female students. (p<.05) 8. In terms of, female students were affected more than male students. (p<.05) 9. In terms of personal interest,society ,sport knowledges , lifestyle, playground safety in the facility , health , playmates ,age, lack of instructional guidance and experience in participation and chance to participate etc, students from families of higher economic status in the society affected more than children from families of lower economic status in the society. (p<.05) II. The motives for participation in the future: 1.There was no significant difference between Northern Yi-Lan County and Southern Yi-Lan County.(p>.05) 2. Sixth graders were more likely to exercise than fifth graders. (p<.05) 3. Male students were more likely to exercise than female students. (p<.05) 4. Children from families of higher economic status in the society were more likely to exercise than children from families of lower economic status in the society.(p<.05) 5. In terms of relaxation , achievement needs , physiological needs and healthiness, etc., children in Northern Yi-Lan County were more likely to exercise than people Southern Yi-Lan County . (p<.05) 6. In terms of society needs , children in Northern Yi-Lan County were more likely to exercise than people Southern Yi-Lan County. (p<.05) 7. In terms of achievement needs , physiological needs and opinion and encouragement etc, fifth graders were more likely to exercise than sixth graders. (p<.05) 8. In terms of achievement needs , physiological needs and society needs etc, male students were more likely to exercise than female students. (p<.05) 9. In terms of personal interest,society ,sport knowledges , lifestyle, playground safety , health , playmates ,age, lack of instructional guidance and experience in participation and chance to participate etc , students from families of higher socio-economic status were more likely to exercise than children from families of lower socio-economic status.
