The Taiwan unique vehicles are now in line with Asian Pacific or global vehicles. The CKD components importing duty barrier has been lower each year ever since Taiwan joined WTO. With the addition of global sourcing; all the Taiwanese part manufacturers are facing the greatest challenge for survival! All current automobile parts suppliers all exert their best efforts to enhance self competitiveness. This especially applies to enterprises with overseas facilities. An improvement of organization system to react with the inner/outer environment is then formed.
This case study bases on a traditional automobile parts developing and manufacturing company. The enforced type matrix organization is newly explained and changed according to functional type matrix by the case study company. The difference is that a program team (ME, QD, RD & Logistic) leaded by dedicated team leader to control several new model products simultaneously. Through well diversified profession and management; the self study organization formed at the beginning, middle and end of the product development could, effectively create knowledge management. And enhance professional knowledge smoothly passing on during the new product development. Referring to experience of case study company adapting forced type matrix organization:
(1) Methods of knowledge management could effectively
enhance the program team knowledge property value.
(2) Could create new organization culture that generates
high out-puts.
(3) Could further enhance RD organization competitiveness.
The goal of this study is to explore and understanding of organization improvement through knowledge management. Through case study company introducing organization improvement experiences; we wish to provide reference to Taiwan automobile part industry, cross-strait component manufacturing industry, IT and related industries when they introduce RD organization improvement.
