Contrary to the conventional design, the OMAP(Open Multimedia Application Platform) chip manufactured by Texas Instrument Inc. is adopted for the controller design in this project. The OMAP chip consists of two subsystems, one is ARM7(ARM7TMDI) and the other one is a DSP(TMS320C5409) system.Besides, it also supports bountiful peripheral interfaces (e.g. RS232, USB and Internet) and miscellaneous functions (e.g. CCD and TFT display). Such characteristics make the marking machine more flexible and extensible with the benefit of much high marking speed.
