The research divides into three major parts, Respectively is "the character research", "the style research" and "the geography culture". In character research center, includes the Chinese character divides into the general name and the special-purpose name of the character radical "Yi" in "Shuowen Jiezi". The general name is the geography general name, On "Yi "character radical, are many for the local govt system region division general name. And special-purpose name, then is the city appropriation name. The style research including said the solution way, the explanations of words in ancient books terminology, the Chinese character order of rank and so on three key points, Comprehensively studies an "Yi "character radical style, the confusion which and takes advantage of this corrects "Shuowen Jiezi" in which to spread in the process possibly occurs. Geography culture aspect, emphatically "Yi "character radical geography culture value, Relations delimited which including the general name and the ancient times geography area, Special-purpose name and ancient times geography culture relations, and Compared with the character radical "Yi" and ancient times geography books similarities and differences and success and failure. Suddenly reveals the geography culture value of the character radical "Yi" ,in "Shuowen Jiezi".
