The pilot must to pitch rock the aircraft out of this abnormal flight condition. To pitch rock the aircraft, the MPO switch must be immediately , firmly held in 〝OVRD〞position until recovery is complete. The MPO switch is not reached and activated by pilot or not firmly held in 〝OVRD〞position will make the adverse condition to mishap. Obviously, the capacity of hand reach and steady operation of MPO switch is a most critical issue during an inverted deep stall. Two aircraft mishap were occurred in short period also to indicate this issue is worth to study with ergonomics methodology. This study uses human factors evaluation research methodologies with 3D cockpit Electronic Mock-up built by CATIA®and anthropometry data of U.S. flying personnel to verify the current position of MPO switch is located within the ZONE 1 area required by military design specification MIL-STD-1333B. Then this study also use the anthropometrics data of Taiwanese labor to simulate local pilot to parallel the current position is appropriate and reachable for subject pilot. The last portion of this study is to generate improvements on steady operation of MPO switch during an inverted deep stall. The proposed improvements will be discussed and trade off by PVI team organized by Test Pilots, Flight Safety Engineer, Ergonomics Engineer and Logistics Engineer. A final improvement is made by PVI and evaluated by Test Pilots through ground static test and flight test under ergonomics evaluation methodology. The result of this study will clear indicate the current MPO switch position is reachable by Taiwanese pilot no matter with anthropometrics difference in ethnic population.
