The most representative of the cases is the removal of the Lin An-Tai old homestead. This incident is a great transformation of the historical preservation movement in Taiwan. Besides, the way of Relocation Preservation starts to be concerned by historic preservation territory. After the removal of the Lin An-Tai old homestead up to now, many historic buildings are preserved by relocation. Among the famous cases, there are Kaohsiung Train Station, Sin-Hua Street Public Office, Tainan Country etc. From the viewpoint of Cultural Heritage preservation, original location preservation is the best way, and relocation preservation is the last way to be allowed. However, in the urban environment of high development, conflicts between urban environment and historic conservation occur over and over again. Therefore, the study is to explore cases of historic buildings belonged to Relocation Preservation in Taiwan by literature review and field investigation. Moreover, it is to analyze the problems of relocating historic buildings after the removal of the Lin An-Tai old homestead. We hope to propose suggestions of historic buildings which are preserved by relocation. This research collects 28 cases of relocation preservation from Japanese ruling Period up to now. Take the removal of the Lin An-Tai old homestead as a divided stage point to study the reason、the techniques、the validity of rules and the current situation for relocation preservation after this incident. At last, analyze the problems of relocation preservation. The results show: 1. The historical preservation territory worries about that the original environment can’t be wholly preserved after relocating historic buildings. Therefore, the value of preservation will be decreased. 2. The historical preservation territory without confidence of relocation techniques worries about that unsuitable ways will impair buildings. Therefore, they doubt about the authenticity of historic buildings after relocations. 3. Make the choice of the historic buildings and the profitability of urban land development、road construction and the construction of Public Transportation. Finally, this research refers that suitable relocating ways to preserve historic buildings can give the better methods to use and development space in the area of historic preservation.
