The family type is getting multiple but the nuclear residence still the central design for the market. It is also the typical style for all kind of families. The potential demand is ignored by major suppliers. For past years, the single parent family is getting more and more in Taiwan. The number comes up rapidly and is growing to be a potential big market.
Since the members of family changed that single parent faces to their LIFESTYLE, and SPACE DEMAND is different to the nuclear family. This is the core issue for this study.
The study is surveyed and interviewed by real cases. The data analysis is according to “Inquiry by Design” & “Environment – Behavior Research” by John Zeisel.
In addition, it is generalized samples living habits to get major subjects. It is included lifestyle, user behavior of space application and detail of space application.
The analysis is based on References and also measures by conjoint analysis in order to banish the Variance.
According to case analysis there are four major characters from single family. It is different to nuclear family. Please refer to the below.
Lifestyle: the share time is getting less since children is getting elder. Furthermore, people rarely cook at home and housing keeping is much less.
Character of space: Single parent share bedroom with children is more. Kitchen function is much more simply. Dinning room lost the major purpose. Living room is becoming multiple functions.
Factors of space: The major factors are included: “Volume and quantity of space”, “reasons of divorce”, “gender of parent”, “age of children”.
Space demand: It is included: Leisure space, private space, and sharing place.The clarification of space demand will be described in detail.
