However during the process of ERP implementation, it may take lots of time in operation process discussion and build up fundamental/essential data base in system. Most of all in fundamental data base build-up is how to set up a flexible, comprehensive and consistent CODING SYSTEM. The coding system will have hug influence on enterprise management especially future explanation flexibility and convenience of maintenance, therefore these should be put into consideration before ERP implementation planning at feasibility study stage; otherwise the implementation of ERP system may not meet original expectation, on the country it may complex original operation process. Hence, before ERP system implementation it's the key topic to study how to well plan the rule on fundamental data base setup. Base on the background description, this study is to use system analysis methodology to study actual case that problem encountered in specific company on material Part Number coding, also thoroughly study the root cause of improper coding on mechanical parts, then initiate the improved model for material Part Number coding system management for this company to improve to re-engineering the Part number coding system as reference.
