In proportion to higher architecture, there is a big trial in the fire equipments. The fire prevention action offer people to run away for sufficient time that reduces the people’s life and property. When the fire takes place in the high floor, the ventilation duct often becomes the main reason of fire spreading. In this study, the ventilation duct and fire damper are examined the fire situation with the FDS (Fire Dynamic Simulator) software. FDS is developed originally by American national institute of standard and technology (NIST) that can simulate fire conditions to investigate the smoke and fire circumstances and estimate people fleeing time. Utilizing this FDS software, we construct the model with three dimensions space house and set up the ventilation duct and fire damper to do simulation. In program design, fire damper of duct will be closed automatically at 72℃. It will enhance to understand the fire spreading extent and the smoke flowing direction. The simulation results show near the real fire situation that can evaluate the fireproof ability of ventilation duct and fire damper in the high buildings with software simulation. Because government has not established the national standard of fire damper, we study the fire damper performance at combustion. In our research, the fire damper is set up inner ventilation duct and across the wall in the fire compartment. The fire damper closes the gate when fire occurrence. The purpose of this research is that to understand the fire damper and fireproof covering materials which can resist the fire spreading and smoke diffusion. Due to the experimental result, the fire damper has one hour fireproof at combustion. Fireproof covering expands thirty times in volume after heat that can prevent effectively the fire and smoke.
