Corporations have noticed that if their products can not satisfy the customer needs, they can no longer exist within the world trading network. So providing the products which meet or even exceed the customer expectations becomes the essential way for corporation survival, and new product development process becomes the most critical part within the value chain.
In this thesis, it uses roll kitchen towel as an example to implement “Quality Function Deployment” methodology into new product development process. First step is to collect the “Voice of Customer” of roll kitchen towel users to identify the customer needs. Then, by using House of Quality to transfer customer needs into product design characteristics as the prototype specifications. This prototype needs to run a consumer use test to confirm the design specifications whether it can meet consumer needs before mass production. After the product goes live, performance assessment is required to close out this product development project.
