The subject of study was recruited first, second, third, and fourth grade and 59 students from three elementary schools in Chia-Yi city, and the scale was used by “Activity of Children’s Scale” to surveyed 59 ADHD children and 100 normal children as control group. The results were analyzed by canonical correlation, stepwise, ANOVA and MANOVA. The major findings were concluded as follow: 1. The prevalence we found of ADHD was 10.2%. 2. There were different significance between physical fitness and the demographic variables including age, mother’s degree, mother’s occupation, marriage, family types, and parent of hyperactivity for all subjects. Children’s motor skill was affected by parent’s degree, mother’s occupation, and marriage. 3. There were highly correlation between health physical fitness and motor skill, which were three factors: endurance, strength, and flexibility. Using the stepwise analysis, manual dexterity was more predictable to endurance and strength; balance ability (static and dynamic) was more predictable to cardiovascular endurance; physical fitness was more predictable to controlling ability of the ball. 4. There were obvious difference between physical fitness and demographic variables including age, parent’s degree, mother’s occupation, parent’s hyperactivity. Besides, the motor skill was changed by circumstance. Using MANOVA to investigate the physical fitness and motor skill, there were significant differences in age, parent’s degree, mother’s occupation, family types, parent’s marriage, and father’s hyperactivity. The purpose of this study was to investigate the situation and prevalence of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) children, also try to explore the relationship between physical fitness and motor skill and to compare the motor skill from both ADHD and normal children in order to analyze the effects of the demography between physical fitness and motor skill.
The major findings were concluded as follow:
