This thesis focuses on the synthesis, crystallization and characterization of inorganic/organic coordination polymers obtained under medium temperature reaction conditions.
Utilizing longer ligand 4,4'-Biphenyldicarboxylic acid (BPDC)、trans-1,2-Bis (4-pyridyl)ethylene (TBPE) and 1,2-Bis(4-pyridyl) ethane (BPE) as bridging ligands to connect transition metal cation Zn2+, a series of inorganic/organic coordination polymers, some of which possess porous frameworks, were obtained by means of self-assembly under such medium temperature reaction conditions, using organic solvents as templates and reaction media. These compounds are Zn2(BPDC)2(TBPE)‧3DMA(1)、Zn2(BPDC)2(BPE)‧3DMA(2)、Zn(BPDC)(TBPE)‧2DMA•H2O(3)、Zn(BPDC)(BPE)‧DMA(4) 、Zn(BPDC)(TBPE) ‧2DMF(5)、Zn3(BPDC)4․3DMA(6)、Zn3(BPDC)3(DMA)2․4DMA(7)。
Compounds (1), (2), (3), (4), (5) and (6) adopt three-dimensional frameworks mostly with solvents located in the cavities, while compound (7) contain two-dimensional frameworks. They were structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques and their thermal stabilities were studied by thermal analysis as well as powder X-ray diffraction. Their sorption-desorption behaviors have been investigated.
