We consider the emergence of nanotechnology at that period of time as a “crystallizing moment” in the history of science. Its rise to prominence is due, at least in part, to new legal and political regime in the nations worldwide that redefined the great possibilities especially of University researchers. In the heat of basic science research, industrial R&D and educational activities in this field promoted greatly by Taiwan government, we believe it is useful to look at the past to gain a perspective on the present. So we feel the urge to contribute timingly by reviewing the evolution of this field and present our report. In it, we have collected and organized a brief chronological table which contains the most important early events and publications directly contribute to the recent development of the nanoscience and -technology. We understand ourselves to be writing mainly for high school or college students, as well as those who are participating in the teaching. Therefore, we have entirely omitted, in this table, the “recent” outstanding achievements, which were frequently addressed to the scientifically sophisticated readers. Two earliest scientific events of great influence in the nanotechnology are believed to be the colloidal science and heterogeneous catalysis. Also, all the “breakthrough” science and technologies in between nineteen century and early 1990’s also find their own importance in the evolution. All genuine suggestions concerning other events for inclusion in this time line will be considered and gratefully welcomed. none 王崇人 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 56 zh-TW
