According to the research results, suggestions and the future research directions were proposed for better understanding and policy decision making in the leisure education in the junior high schools. The subjects in this research were ramdonly selected from the teachers of junior high schools in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung counties and cities. A total of 466 questionnaires were given and 427 were returned and validly coded. The response rate for this study was 91.6%. The research measure tool included competence indicators of leisure education attitude scale and the demographic information sheet. Descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one way ANOVA and Scheffe’s method were utilized to analyze the data, which has obtained the results concluded as the follows: 1. There were 47 competence indicators of leisure education for the junior high school obtained. Leisure-skills were coded as the largest dimension of competence indicators, and Leisure-ethics were the least one. 2. The degree of importance for each dimension was Self-awarness, Leisure-ethics, Leisure-skills, Leisure-awarness, and then Leisure-resources. 3. There were no statistically significant differences of leisure education attitude among junior high school teachers on gender, experiences of teaching, educational background, and school size. 4. There was statistically significant difference of leisure education attitude on the teaching location. The leisure resource was better in the non-remoted schools than the remoted schools. 5. There was statistically significant difference of leisure education attitude on the leisure-awarness dimension among the teaching areas. The teachers in Arts and Humanities area had higher degree of improtance on leisure-awarness dimension than that of Mathematics area and Social Studies area. 6. There was statistically significant difference of leisure education attitude on the leisure-ethics dimension among the teaching areas.
