Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 視覺傳達設計系碩士班 === 93 === This research mainly focused on the graphical designs of 1171 editions of the Eikuo lottery samples and 7 editions of the Four Seasons lottery published by Taiwan bank under the authorization of the Taiwan Province Government between 1950~1987. Base on different formats and forms, the designs were divided into various categories, which were then explored and analyzed base on the basic principles of graphic design. According to numbers of appearances of design subjects on the Eikuo lottery, subjects were respectively, stories of historians, Taiwan sceneries, Mainland sceneries, Bridge series, National holidays, national museum collections, citizen’s daily norms, paper bills, stories of 24 dutiful sons, flowers and birds of four seasons, military forces, Taiwan agriculture/timber/fishing businesses, publication memorial dates, reservoirs, reputable people and events, power plants, Taiwan local artifacts, president inauguration, and legislation elections. According to numbers of appearances of graphical designs of Eikuo lottery, subjects were respectively, scenery, architects, people, animals, static objects, graphics, and words. Prior to 1980s, graphics of scenery, architects and static objects were mainly expressed through drawing techniques and later changed to photography after 1980s. Letters and words were mainly free hand and printed types. According to numbers of appearances of different printed fonts, they were respectively, Tsuhei font, Lihsu font, and Liginhei font; Fonliginhei font with shadow was the most frequent used font for freehand letters and words. How words were arranged on the Eikuo lottery was up right, from right to left, and from top to the bottom; horizontal writings were always arranged from the right of the ticket to the left. As for graphical constitutions for the lottery ticket, the title subject mostly situated on the top of the ticket and the main design on the center portion. The graphic divisions were mostly vertical format. Most tickets were designed without any decorative outer frames. Laceworks, patterns appeared on the tickets mostly as supporting roles or base works. Laceworks and base works, sorted base on graphical designs, can have different categories of paper bills, plants, animals, clouds, copper coins, words, Chinese nuts, and geometry graphics. The color display was based on printing color separation: at the initial stage of Eikuo lottery publication, the ticket was printed with only one single color and was not until the 315th edition, did the tickets printed with four colors, which lasted to the final 1171st edition.
