To achieve this goal, the associations between psychological skills and performance were investigated. Moreover, the gender and skill differences on psychological skills were examined. A sample of 129 elite table tennis players in Taiwan were recruited and administered to the instrument consisted of Athletic Psychological Skills Inventory (APSI) and demographic information questionnaire. The results showed that the subscales of APSI, included “Peaking under pressure and Coping with adversity”, “Coachability”, “Concentration”, and “Confidence”, correlated with sport performance significantly. So far as components of psychological skills were concerned, compared with female players, male players scored higher in “Peaking under pressure and Coping with adversity”, “Motivation”, “Concentration”, and “Confidence”. Besides, players with at least 16-year training scored higher in “Peaking under pressure and Coping with adversity” subscale than that of less than 10-year training. In addition, players who had been chosen as a national champion showed higher concentration than those who had not. Moreover, subjects with experience of international match exhibited higher concentration and confidence than those who had no such experience. Concerning demographic factors of table tennis players, the age, training year, team category, training hours per week, sport’s level, and experience of international match were key variables influencing performance. In addition, players with higher skill scored higher in the “Confidence” subscale than the lower skill counterparts. Hung, Tsung-Min 洪聰敏 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 94 zh-TW
