Abstract
This main discussion of study was to investigate the job stress and emotion management of directors of general affairs in the elementary school, secondly to analyze the effects of directors’ demographic variables and schools’ environmental variables on directors’ job stress and emotion management, and finally discuss the relationship between job stress and emotion management.
The study uses investigation method of the questionnaire. The targets included 184 public directors of general affairs in elementary schools Taoyuan County. Two survey instruments were developed in the research including “The Elementary School Directors’ Job Stress Scale” and “The Elementary School Directors’ Emotion Management Scale”. Data were analyzed by SPSS for Windows 10.0 using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and canonical relation. The major conclusions were as follows:
1. Perception of the job stress at the elementary schools’ directors of general affairs was medium in strength.
2. The directors of general affairs who have of 40 years old below show the higher stress of 「heavy workload」、「professional ability」and「whole job stress」than who have job-age of over 41 years old.
3. The directors of general affairs who have the job-age of one below show the higher stress of 「heavy workload」、「professional ability」and「whole job stress」than who have job-age of over four.
4. The bosses’ requests of the directors of general affairs in urban schools are higher than the directors of general affairs in rural zones.
5. The elementary schools’ directors of general affairs possess greatly competency of emotion management.
6. Females show the greater competency of 「whole emotion management」、「emotional cognition」and「emotional empathy」than males do.
7. The directors of general affairs with Master’s degree show the greater competency of「emotional expression」than the directors of general affairs with Bachelor’s degree. The directors of general affairs with universal degree show the greater competency of「emotional empathy」than the directors of general affairs with Bachelor’s degree.
8. The different school environmental variables elementary schools’ directors of general affairs possess greatly competency of emotion management.
9. The better 「emotional expression」, the better 「human relations」 and the lower 「bosses’ requests」、「heavy workload」.
10. The lower「bosses’ requests」, The better 「emotional expression」、「emotional adaptation」.
Finally, according to results of the study, relevant suggestions were proposed for the reference of educational administration authorities, the universities which are responsible for pre-service training and the future research plans.
