Abstract The purpose of this study was to explore the circumstance of group learning in a third-grade Chinese class. A Chinese teacher and a group of students were involved in the study to proceed the mission executing and discussing. Therefore,before understanding the way of research, to know the opinions of the group learning and realize the role and the function of teacher play can be a group teaching reference for Chinese teacher. Qualitative resarch was adopted in this study during the period of two semseters. The data was collected by participant-observation, interview and document-analysis. The findings of the research were drawn as follows: 1.The dicussion was coming out by the leader of students, not by members interact amply. 2.The main roles in the group was including the information providers, supervisor of discussion process and time controller. 3.Students agreed with the way of grouping, and they participated in group learning actively and hope to perform well. According to the main findings, the suggestions are addressed as below: 1. For Chinese instruction: (1) The association of group members keeps invariable during group learning. (2) Before activities teacher should address clearly expected the behaviors of group learning to student. (3) Teacher should often pay attention to students’learning situation during activities. 2. For future research: (1) The researcher compares the learning situation of the different grades of students. (2) The research studies the process of knowledge construction of students in group learning.
