Description
Summary:碩士 === 淡江大學 === 中國大陸研究所碩士在職專班 === 93 === After the cold war, although the disintegration of Soviet Union has decreased the threat from north area, the Beijing authority still needs to make efforts to expand its military forces in reaction to the unstable border and the changeable international situation. In addition, the performances of those Hi-Tech weapons used by allied forces in Gulf War has shocked PRC and forced Beijing government to devote more efforts to develop advanced weaponry. Fortunately, under the strong support of its highly-developed domestic economy, PRC armed forces has grown up largely in recent years. As usual, the Beijing authority always makes detailed plans on the development of Hi-Tech military technology before actually taking actions as well as brings international situation, current domestic status and future requirements into consideration. Therefore, the focus of its military strategy will gradually move towards computerization and long-range accurate attack capability. However, with what kind of attitude will the surrounding countries of PRC take to treat the fast expansion of its armed forces? No doubt, it is a big threat. Under the threat, neighboring countries of PRC formed two extreme different parties, one tends to keep close relationship with PRC, and the other one tends to strengthen military forces against PRC. Moreover, the fast development of PRC military technology stimulated the arms trade market and drew many nongovernmental funds to invest into the weapon industry in attempt to obtain large profits. The joint military exercises conducted by PRC with some countries also posed an invisible military threat to its neighboring countries and forced them to place more emphasis on the promotion of advanced weapon systems. All of these will inevitably cause a military revolution in the near future. Most of all, in recent years, the PRC was devoted to develop aerospace technology in attempt to gain the space power. As we see, its aerospace technology has no longer what it was before and already caused a big threat to the security of Asia-Pacific area. The mainland china considers that its military technologies and equipment have been developed from poor to perfect, from weak to strong, from small to large, as well as leaping over several historical stages. The Beijing authority believes that it can develop and produce various kinds of advanced weapons by itself now, from conventional to modernized weapons and from ground forces to all arms, purchase and copy are not the only methods any more. Nevertheless, owing to the changes in environment, the loss of qualified scientists and technicians, the limitation of development items, imperfect weapon R&D system, insufficient fund and poor skill, PRC still needs to break and overcome many bottlenecks and difficulties. Consequently, it is impossible for the mainland china to come up to western country standard in the near future. However, the PRC has much confidence to promote military technology by the scheduled tome and has high ambition to play a leading role in Asia-Pacific affairs, furthermore in international affairs. We think that with its wild ambition, its advanced military technology will soon hold a dominant position in the world and pose a serious to other countries. It is quite obvious that its neighboring countries will feel uneasy about its deterrent forces and fall into a meaningless arms race.
