The energy dissipation device has been proved to be effective for the earthquake resistance of structures. To overcome the earthquake damages, the energy dissipation device has already become the leading trend of buildings. This thesis investigates the design and construction of energy dissipation device in order to promote the seismic resistant force of structure. According to the engineering experiences, the thesis set up the design procedures for the new buildings and retrofitted buildings. Two actual examples are analyzed. The thesis also studies the application of energy dissipation system in Taiwan, including the types, number, purposes, advantages, etc. On the other hand, the performance design is applied in the design of structures with energy dissipation system. . In order to achieve the goal of design, the followings should be clearly executed: the product examination, construction, inspection, and rehabilitation. To insure the quality of construction and achieve the purpose of dampers, the construction plan and quality control plan should be well fulfilled.. To sum up, the energy dissipation system has been verified to reduce seismic damages effectively in recent earthquakes. To protect the safety of life and properties, the government, academy and engineers should work together to increase the application and quality of energy dissipation system.
