Questionnaires assessing principals’ transformational leadership practices and organizational commitment were completed by 645 elementary school teachers. Results of the study indicated that principals’ transformational leadership practices were significantly related to teachers’ organizational commitment. Secondly, overall most of the elementary school teachers in Taipei County perceived their principals as transformational leaders and reported a high level of organizational commitment. Finally, there were significant differences in the perception of principals’ transformational leadership practices among elementary school teachers based on age, position, working experience, and school size. Age, position, and working experience also played an important role in teachers’ sense of organizational commitment. The study concluded with several suggestions for improving elementary school principals’ transformational leadership practices and teachers’ organizational commitment. June S.
