In order to provide service of passenger public transport safely, conveniently, economically, efficiently, justly and orderly, we have to regulate the vehicles, routes, stations and organization appropriately, which are supplied by bus transportation operators. Many important topics, such as market entering, network- planning, subsidy, evaluation, safety management and taxes are related to service classification of passenger public transport. The service classification of passenger public transport is in accordance with past demand and supply of transport at present. As changing of travel demand and the boundary of different markets, which are freeway bus, inter-city bus, taxi and tourist bus become blurred. On the other hand, new service is provided by marketing method and new requirement, such as school bus, community shuttle, special-bus for medical treatment. However, the old classification is without new service. Besides, Intelligent Transportation System can build new operate style which is unspecified route, station, time and user, such as Demand Responsive Transport (DRT), Dial-A-Ride and Car Sharing. The research is based on market segmentation. Analyzing the attributes of travel demand and supply selects best segment ability. Using map overlaying analysis method assays the situation of passenger public transport and chooses the proper classification. In conclusion, using new classification reviews the past way and considers the new services. To make the service classification of passenger public transport becomes just and reasonable. Supporting all kinds of transport markets develop flawlessly. Let people enjoy safe and convenient service. At the same time, all system will operate sustained in the impartial surroundings by the efficient way. To build the passenger public transport system is safe, economical and equitable.
