Summary: | 碩士 === 淡江大學 === 國際事務與戰略研究所 === 93 === After the Gulf war, China realized there were huge differences in military technology between China and European countries and began to learn from America and Russia. China made every effort in “constructing good quality military, strengthening the military force by technology, establishing armed force by diligence and frugality, commanding troops by law, making substantive military reforms, and adopting scientific decision-making. “They emphasized the elevation of the educational training to the strategic level and the conquest of the enemy in part of war with the high technology. The Chinese armed forces were marching toward the goal of military modernization. The thesis notes that China was aware that military modernization lies in the cultivation and training of military elites and professionals. Recruiting quality manpower and resources is related with the China’s controlling of the majority of global strategies in the world. Modernized equipment needs to be operated by qualified personnel in the military; the process of the war requires intelligent commanders to control to reach the goals. Therefore, the Ministry of Staff in Chief China considers the cultivation and training of the elites and professionals as strategic mission and an important issue.
The thesis includes five chapters and sixteen sections, besides introduction and conclusion. The first chapter introduces related terms and definitions about China’s defense strategies and China military education. The second chapter explains that the term “defense strategies” used by China originated in the middle 1980s. The defense strategies are the plans designed for national defense and for national security. The third chapter notes the history and the development of the Chinese military education. The fourth chapter discusses the current training of military professionals for the military education. The fifth chapter discusses the current situation of military academies in China. Finally, the conclusion emphasizes that studying the changing defense strategies of China facilitates our understanding of the policy and the development of the Chinese military education in order to predict its future development. From the strategic viewpoints, the present study examines the development of the Chinese military educational system.
