In this thesis,we propose dynamic bandwidth allocation mechanism in the upstream direction of EPON system。The proposed mechanism aim to provide satisfied Quality of Service support for a variety of multimedia traffic sources。
The amount of allocated bandwidth in such mechanisms mainly depends upon the following factors:the reported queue length,the credit value representing the predicted bandwidth requirement occurring between the reporting time and the actual transmission time,the access priority of each individual traffic。It is shown through simulation that the proposed mechanism can effectively reduce the average packet waiting time。Besides,the mechanism can guarantee that packets with higher priority always enjoys better performance results。
