The objective of this study was to screen endemic endophytic fungi which could produce antibacterial substance. Nine strains showed obviously antibacterial activities. Staphyloccus aureus, Bacillus cereus, Salmonella typhimurium and E.coli were used as test organisms. Strain SM-C013 can produce promising antibacterial substance. The strain was identified to be Pestalosphaeria sp. of ascomycota by molecular biological method. Ethanol is the best extraction solvent of SM-C013 antibacterial substance. The inhibiton zone (0.34 cm) of the ethanol extracts was equal to 0.02 µg/ml tetracycline or 5.14 µg/ml ampicillin. The growth of Aspergillus niger, Rhizopus oryzae, Penicillium griseofulvum, Botrytis cinera, and Mucor mucedo were also inhibited by the ethanol extracts. The molecular weight of antibacterial substance is not more than 500 Da. Shu-Miaw Chaw Ken-Yuon Li 趙淑妙 李根永 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 111 zh-TW
